Prepaid customers can take advantage of International Services, including International Voice Calling, Text Messaging and International Roaming in select countries.

International Voice Calling

Verizon Wireless Prepaid customers can now call more international locations!

You can make calls to international locations at your per minute rate plus the following international per minute surcharges:
  • Puerto Rico - no extra charge.
  • $0.10 / min to landlines in Mexico.
  • $0.29 / min to Mexico wireless numbers, Canada, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands and Northern Marina Islands. 
  • $1.49 / min to other available locations.
Note: Night and/or Weekend Minutes do not apply to international calls.

1 If you are on a Prepaid Plan with unlimited texting or unlimited text bundle and you don’t have sufficient funds in your account at the time of renewal, picture and video messaging will be charged 25¢ per message sent (per recipient) or received for Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico. If you are on a Prepaid Plan with unlimited texting or unlimited text bundle and have a sufficient balance, you will receive unlimited picture and video messaging to Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico at no charge.

Picture & Video messages sent to phone numbers in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico are charged domestic rates per your plan.  Plans with unlimited texting include unlimited picture and video messaging to the United States, participating carriers in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.  International Picture and Video message rates apply when sending and receiving messages outside the United States and excluding participating networks in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

Text Messaging Rates:

International messaging rates vary by Prepaid Plan. Unlimited Text Bundles do not apply to International Text Messages.  International users who want to send a text message to U.S. subscribers; simply dial 011 and the 10-digit number or +1 and the 10-digit number.

While in the U.S. some international destinations can be reached using 10-digit direct dialing. International Long Distance rates apply in addition to airtime charges. The 10-digit Dialing countries include: America Samoa, Anguilla, Antigua & Barbados, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Islands, Canada, Cayman Islands, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Guam, Jamaica, Montserrat, Puerto Rico, Saipan NM Islands, St. Kitts & Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & Grenadines, Trinidad & Tobago, Turks & Caicos, and U.S. Virgin Islands.

Plans with unlimited text messaging include unlimited messaging to the United States, participating carriers in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.  International text messaging  rates apply when sending and receiving messages with customers outside the United States and excluding participating networks in Canada, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

International Roaming - Text messaging

You can also send and receive text messages while traveling outside the U.S. for $0.50 per message sent (per recipient) and $0.05 per message received in the following countries:

Locations and rates are subject to change without notice. Coverage only available on participating networks and is not guaranteed. Data services (including picture and video messaging) and features are not available when roaming internationally. Unlimited Calling, Text Bundles, Anytime Minutes, Unlimited Night, Weekend, and Mobile to Mobile Minutes do not apply to International Services.

Rates, terms, and conditions apply only when roaming on participating networks in published countries. Service may be available in additional countries, but rates and service availability (including return calls from emergency services personnel) may be restricted. Where available, calls placed to directory assistance, entertainment lines, and any third-party services are billed (along with applicable toll charges) in addition to roaming rates. When roaming near country borders, calls may be carried by a cell site located in a neighboring country and billed at that country’s rates.
